My collection of cassette tapes

Suzanne Vega - Days of Open Hand (1990)

A gift from my girlfriend! I have yet to listen to it with attention

Lady Gaga - Chromatica (2020)

I really LOVED this album when it first came out but it kinda got old really quick, now I find it hard not to skip certain songs when listening to it. I still think it's a solid album but I think it lacks that Gaga magic that makes you go back to her old projects and find new things about it to love, and there's not much of Chromatica to go back to. Anyway, the tape itself is very cool, I love the green shell! Although the artwork is pretty lucklaster.

Makthaverskan - III (2017)

My first Discogs purchase! I discovered Makthaverskan a few months ago when "Leda" showed up on my Discover Weekly Spotify playlist and I immediately felt in love with it! III is an amazing album so I had to own it on tape

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill (1995)

This tape had a little cut out from a magazine showing the album's artwork inside the booklet. My girlfriend's theory is that the person who originally bought it got it as a present for someone else and was carrying the little clipping as a reference. My theory is that the original owner was just a fan of Alanis and wanted to keep it as memorabilia. I like both theories.

Marineros - O Marineros (2015)

Marineros is a chilean band that makes music for lesbians who were a bit too much on tumblr back in 2012 and I respect them for that. This tape was released this year as a limited edition and it has a very DIY feel to it, I like it a lot.

American Football - American Football (1999)

For years I've read on the internet how important this album was and how it defined the emo genere. I never really got all the fuss about and thought that maybe listening to it on a physical format would somehow help me understand. I love this album now.

Kero Kero Bonito - Bonito Generation (2016)

I got into KKB back in 2015 when I first heard Flamingo on a Secret Songs compilation and I've been a fan ever since. I love this album a lot, it has a playfulness to it that just puts me in a good mood when I listen to it and the lyrics make me feel optimistic about being an adult. Also the tape is really cute!

Kero Kero Bonito - Time 'n' Place (2018)

This album feels like a sequel to Bonito Generation and it's one of those good sequels. While Bonito Generation addresses adulthood from the perspective of a kid, TNP does it from the perspective of someone who's just getting used to the hardest parts of growing up and the loneliness that comes with it. I think both albums compliment each other very nicely and I love this one just as much as the first one.
